Frequently Asked Questions

Should I schedule my in-home quality of life consultation with a Comfort Care veterinarian or veterinary technician?

All BluePearl Pet Hospice veterinarians and nurses are uniquely trained in comfort and end of life care.

Comfort Care veterinarians are able to provide in-depth education about your pet’s medical concerns and answer questions about your pet’s disease. They can also recommend medications and therapies to improve your pet’s quality of life.

Additionally, veterinarians can provide you with a Comfort Kit (additional cost), which contains pain and sedation medications.

Veterinary technicians are able to discuss all aspects of your pet’s quality of life, but cannot offer any direct medical advice or dispense medications. They can, however, make recommendations for improved care to enhance your pet’s comfort and wellbeing.

Veterinary technicians can also help you understand the euthanasia process and what to expect when the time comes.

Do I get ongoing support with my in-home quality of life consultation?

Unlike our comfort care consultations, in-home quality of life consultations do not include a detailed medical plan or one month of ongoing medical management.

However, if during your consultation you feel a comfort care relationship would be more appropriate, the Quality of Life Assessment may be changed to a comfort care consultation instead.

Testimonials

Our first meeting was a thorough in-home assessment with Dr. Kara who got to know Jack and explained everything to us in great detail. She shared helpful visual references and took the time to listen and answer all of our questions. She sensed what we needed and when - a gentle process handled with great sensitivity.

We have never experienced a process so steeped in kindness, care and time. What you wonderful people do is a gift beyond words; a ceremonial time for life and death in a world that has mostly forgotten how to pause and experience.
